Spirit-filled weekend

A rainy day. Youth Camp in Zobel. Retreat of A2009.

Thanks to YFC Zobel for the most powerful worship I've had in a long while. I felt I heard God relaying a message to me that time... that was reaffirmed the following day when Fr Eli, SJ, read that same scripture verse I was thinking about: the great commissioning. I'll love my ABoys to bits even if it's just one way loving.

Smashed weekend (Cheered for Ateneo, then for La Salle, but wore a UP shirt)

Okay... Friday night was SUPPOSEDLY for DotA, but Mr Po gave such excellent directions. I was at a videoke party for some group of teachers from Zobel when... First, I call him and he says I should just get to a convenient spot in the Makati CBD (they'll be at Greenbelt) since he and Chester can pick me up. I ended up at Krispy Kreme. I read an email while there (yay for free WiFi) that Nikki wouldn't join DotA since he was not willing to travel to Morato just to play. So I call Nikki to find out that he's with Po.

Po tells me to join them and proceed to where they are. I ask where they are. Message 1: "dito lang kami". Great. I message Nikki next to tell me where they are. I also message Po. He replies with Message 2: "greenbelt". Kinda more specific now, but still... I message him again for more specific location, still with no reply coming from Nikki. Message 3: "name of restaurant". At this point, I'm kinda at my wits' end. Nikki's message comes in with great detail. Thanks, man.

We ended up just having coffee (well, they did) instead of playing DotA. The following day, I watched an Ateneo game, went to work at Bo's (look at the dollop hearts), had a tarp printed, watched a La Salle game, left before a UP game (despite wearing a UP shirt), went to Blueskies for some Rock Band-ing (best part of my weekend was with ABoys), then got the tarp.

First ever Game Crab night for me (with the more-than-usual obnoxious Po)

Po drank from my glass of bottomless iced tea... eh he was drunk so I had to ask for my glass to be changed.

This explains a lot!

Just when you thought you could trust the people around you, you learn that they have ulterior motives. Don't you hate it when someone isn't straightforward with you — lying to your face while looking you in the eye?

I'd rather be beside you in the storm...

You know how sometimes that pain can turn to actual physical pain in your chest?

Happened again this afternoon...

How apt.

Tally of Ateneo High School and De La Salle Zobel "cuties"

I was looking for a lesson on uses of Javascript...

...when I chanced upon this site called Candy Mag. I noticed on the side a photograph of Dash Zialcita, Ateneo High School G2007. So I then proceeded to check out the list and found a list of Candy Cuties you can vote for... You could go to Candy Mag's page devoted to the Candy cuties or send an SMS with the following format: CANDY CUTIE ‹NAME OF CUTIE› and send to 2948 for SMART, Globe, and Sun subscribers. (It costs P2.50 unless you're on Sun. In that case, it costs just P2.00.) SMS votes are counted as three votes.

Ateneo cuties
Carlos Consunji
He was my student when he was in I2009. He is a member of Hilites, the org that produces the school's magazine. A quiet kid that may not have been prepared for high school life yet, but he showed maturity despite adversity.
Dash Zialcita
He was my student in G2007. He was a member of the Ateneo High School's Blue Babble Batallion. He belongs to the group in class of rowdy kids, but he's sometimes the voice of reason in class. He shows responsibility when called for it, reflected by the fact that he's in the upper bracket of his class, grades-wise.
EJ Trinidad
He was my student in B2008. As part of the BBoys, he was one of the men who I grew in love with AFTER they became my students. (I had to be fair and support my moderating semi-honors class. :D) He's "sweet" that way... the BBoys have torn a piece of me. In addition, I believe EJ was table tennis varsity team.
Jepoy Villaflor
Yet another from G2007, Jepoy kept a low profile in class. (Admittedly, that's hard to do in their section.) He performs well in select tasks in my class. (He failed one exam and one long test if I recall correctly.)
Jomi Mendoza
Okay, I will admit that I did not handle their class in particular. I once was a "guest teacher" in their class. I taught them QBASIC sprite generation, buffering, saving, and reproduction. Hence, I do not have any personal context. For that, I refer to Mr Lim. :D
Migo YbaƱez
He was my student in F2009. If I recall correctly, he plays ball for one of the school teams. (Is it PRADA?) He's one of those athletes who also performs well in class (just falls short of the top guys). Just a bit hard to manage in class, but a good kid overall I believe.
Mike Shimamoto
He was my student in M2009. Yet another class that took a piece of me. He sings for MBoys09. Excellently, if I may add. Shim to his class, he was also my student for SRP 2007. He admits to being poor in Computer, but has good work ethic. (Shameless — or Shimless — plug: they have a concert on 06 September.)
Mikee Lee
This former Pinoy Big Brother Teen Edition housemate was not my student, but he greets me casually (last time was about three weeks back at KFC Katipunan when I found myself "lost" there). First time I can recall was when I delivered misplaced letters/invitations for parents of honor students for the Reading of Honors the very day he came back to school from PBB Teen Edition. Good kid.
Robi Domingo
A former Pinoy Big Brother Teen Edition Plus housemate, I've also been a guest teacher to their class of M2008. I taught them QBASIC Geometry (and of course integrated it with Math). I also know him from being a "friend of CMO" sometimes known as "CMO's Next Top Papa".
Ton Vergel de Dios
This guy was also not one of my students, but I've also been a "guest teacher" to their section. He plays and sings for the band (of brothers) Hansom.
Zobel cuties

Tally of Ateneo cuties: 10
Tally of Zobel cuties: 0

Clearly, Ateneo wins... Of course, if you were to compare Atenistas and Lasalyanos, there might be more in the mix. Those are just the ones I know of. :D

Paris Hilton for US President

Just watch the first part. Hilarious! Also look how the news anchor's trying not to laugh at the news.

The BIG DAY is tomorrow...

Tomorrow, one team's going to go home with an unblemished 7-0 slate and the other will tearfully have a 6-1 record. Who am I going to cheer for? I dunno yet. Prolly none and just enjoy excellent basketball. (I'm actually going with someone, so the decision where to sit will not be totally mine, but I have an informal poll on Y!M to "help" us decide.) Animo!
